Free document scanning service available!

We at Professionalcar.org believe that we need to preserve the history of not only the professional cars and emergency vehicles that we all love, but we also need to preserve the history of the services that owned them and the people that ran them. We want to feature not only vintage equipment, but also the firsthand memories of the folks that used, depended on, and cared for those rigs, and we want to preserve as much of the firsthand history that we can. History is more interesting when there is a personal connection, and we want to provide you the opportunity to preserve your memories online where the world can learn from and share in them with you.

To that end, we are offering free digital scanning services to anyone with a collection of vintage photographs or documents relevant to professional car and funeral and ambulance service history.

We will provide free “named” gallery space on the Professionalcar.org server to host your galleries of vintage and archival photographs and documents to anyone that is willing to share their collection of photos and documents with the world. (Ex: “The John Smith photo collection”) Your photos and documents are and always will be yours. By taking advantage of this service, you are only agreeing to let us display them here on the site, clearly marked as your collection.

We are interested in preserving the history of these cars and trucks and the businesses and people that ran them, so we are willing to “walk the talk” and get your collection online for the world to see, all for free.

All you need to do is ship us your collection and we will take care of the rest. Your entire collection of photos and documents will be digitally scanned, the digital images will be watermarked with your name/the name of your collection, and then all of the originals will be shipped back to you with package tracking so you know they are safe. We will also include a CD or CD’s for you with digital copies of all the images and documents we scanned. And then we will put all of your images and documents online in your own gallery. All for no charge to you.

We feel that we need to preserve this history before it disappears, and the people that can best share this history with the world are the people that lived and breathed it!

If you’d like to take advantage of our scanning/gallery services, please use the “Contact us” link at the top of the page and drop us a line for more information and instructions for getting started.

More about the site

How to compose a great historical article.

When writing a historical article the main objective should always be accuracy. This means factual information which can be scrutinized and verified as being truthful and historically accurate. This simple goal of accuracy should be present throughout the entire course of research and compiling the information that will go into the article.

These are the top five rules that will help you create a great article. These are posted as helpful rules in the hope that many of you reading this will consider contributing to history by posting a story or two from your own corner of the world.
