Never in a million years would I have ever thought my first ride in a hearse would be just for the ‘fun of it’.

Never would I have ever thought the hearse would belong to my son.

And of course, six years later never would I have ever thought I’d own a hearse of my own!

I remember well the day it all began. Jeremy Ledford (my son, for those of you that don’t know) is the President of the Volunteer Chapter of the PCS. In 2006 the Volunteer Chapter and the Southeastern Chapter hosted the International meet in Kingsport, Tennessee. No, I need to rewind back to 2003 when Jeremy bought his 1977 hearse, it creeped me out a little, but I drove it to the end of the street and back. I thought “this club” he was in had to be full of insane people!

Ok, fast forward to 2006. I was at the meet in Kingsport for one day, the day at the show field. I was really impressed with the cars and how much everyone loved them and the crowd that they drew. The night of the sound and light show did it for me. Then and there I decided I wanted a procar. I didn’t meet many people at that meet, but enjoyed meeting those I did. I really didn’t give it much more thought and attend any more meets until the International of 2007. I had since joined the message board and although I’d never met them, felt like I knew some of the people there. The week of the 2007 International meet was one of my best vacations ever. I was primarily known as “Jeremy’s Mom”. I met alot of people and made several close friends. That week I decided that I WAS going to own a procar! Several of my new found friends were eager to give advice and lead me in the right direction choosing the right procar.

Did I want a hearse?
Did I want an ambulance?
Did I want a limousine? (that’s another story.)

One day on the message board classifieds, a hearse was listed for sale. It was white. Most knew I wanted white. Well, phone calls, private messages, and e-mails were exchanged. The hearse belonged to a member of the PCS, Danny Ryder. I decided to go see it. He met Jeremy and I halfway and he brought two hearses. Now it was decision time. One was a Chevrolet, the other was a Cadillac. It wasn’t hard to choose between the two. That day in August of 2007 is the day I bought “Lilly”, a 1992 Eagle, a little over a month after the 2007 International meet. I called her my 50th birthday present to myself. And on my 50th birthday went hang gliding and took Lilly along, just in case.

Approximately 6 1/2 months later, I bought a limousine.

I was addicted.
