Hello
I heard the early PA-20 series sirens in "yelp" but am wondering; why do they sound different from the siren of Buford Pusser's car in the "Walking Tall" movies or some of the cars on "Police Story"? Did they create the sound effect by putting the pre-E PA-20 in manual several times? I also heard a volunteer's siren sound almost exactly like that too when I was driving out of a small Georgia town.

By the way I read an ad which depicted an electronic siren speaker (at the time the PA-10 came out) as similar to the Model 66 mechanical siren. Odd.

I don't know about the output transistors, but I read somewhere that the in-between settings can ruin the diodes. I have a PA20A 2E and a PA200 (both will do the in-between tones) but I've never been brave enough to monkey around with those settings just to find out what could go wrong.

I have a question what damage can be done to the circut board by leaving the siren in between the tones as you mentioned, I have been told that it can short out the output transistors is this true?
